Atira successfully launched its second Melbourne-based location, Atira Peel Street in February 2019. Located in North Melbourne, the 576 bed property comprises two towers and delivers premium student living with modern apartments, spectacular common areas and a dynamic residential life program.
The project signifies the continued success of Atira and solidifies our position as a formidable player in the purpose built student accommodation sector, as well as pushing the boundaries of architectural design and development innovation.
Modern student living
The immediate proximity of the site to major educational institutions, offered the opportunity to deliver a tailored accommodation experience through the provision of a mature and refined interior, focused on occupant wellbeing and academic pursuit.
Featuring a diverse mix of contemporary room types to suit most student budgets, Atira Peel Street offers self-contained studios, twin share apartments and a range of spacious multi-room two and four bedroom options. Residents enjoy stylish furnishings and a generous assortment of modern comforts including high-speed internet, air conditioning, LCD TV’s and equipped kitchens.
Our approach of creating an inclusive and supportive community ensures the accommodation is purpose built and provides abundant space for study, group meetings and socialising.
An inspiring array of student spaces and verdant outdoor terraces all contribute to an inclusive, connected and highly serviced on-site community. Atira Peel Street’s generous collection of common areas boast a gymnasium, private cinema, two rooftop lounges, quiet study areas, secluded libraries and a sprawling ground floor communal kitchen and dining area.
An inclusive environment where students can thrive
Fostering a supportive student community where residents can thrive both academically and personally is integral to delivering a remarkable student experience. Our residential life program facilitates this by aiming to engage and enrich residents. A range of exclusive events and activities provide life skills, facilitate community interaction, and offer memorable experiences that residents can cherish for life.
Residents also enjoy peace of mind knowing Atira Peel Street incorporates a number of measures to ensure a safe, secure environment including electronic swipe card access, 24-hour on-site staff and CCTV cameras throughout the building.
“I really enjoy the resident life events. I met one of my good friends during a Spanish cooking session. It’s nice to get some hands-on experience during these activities. The staff are also really helpful and great to be around.” – Pitchanun Puttawong – Atira Peel Street resident
A triumph of design
Conceived by architecture firm Hayball, Atira Peel Street gives consideration to the heritage context and emphasises positive connections to the local community. The undulating form of the facade reflects back the immediate locality, and is animated by seasonal weather patterns and changing light conditions.
A fluid gradient of colour acts as a backdrop to each communal space. As the building facade reflects and responds to changing light, the interior highlights reference the changing colours of light itself, incorporating human-centric lighting principles to aid in the comfort of the occupants. Through light installations, the interior offers a junction between static structure and dynamic movement, creating a play of light, colour and shadow.
A convenient location on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD
Atira Peel Street is conveniently located in close proximity to retail centres, public transport and Melbourne’s celebrated food scene. Major educational institutions including the University of Melbourne and RMIT University among others are all just a short trip away, allowing students to commute from home to class in a matter of minutes.
“It’s (Atira Peel Street) really close to my campus. Five minutes and I’m there. It’s quite spacious, fully-furnished and comes with all the basic equipment I need. It’s really nice. I’m living in a 4-bedroom apartment. It’s a great way to meet people from other parts of the world. The rooftop terrace is amazing and it’s a really good place to study.” Shuet Yi Lee – Atira Peel Street Resident
Atira Peel Street is another example of our commitment to delivering purpose built student accommodation that enhances the university journey and maximises the resident experience.
“Mobilising a second building within six weeks came with its challenges however due to the hard work and dedication of the Melbourne team and support from the wider Atira network we were able to welcome first students to Atira Peel Street on 14th February 2019. Completion of the project came down to the wire and we are proud to have another high level student accommodation property in the Atira Student Living Melbourne portfolio.” – Liam Riley, General Manager, Atira Peel Street.
